Lyons Armistice Centenary Grants Program Open
09 Nov 2017
The Armistice Centenary Grants Program is open now across the federal electorate of Lyons.
Councils and community organisations are encouraged to apply for funding for projects that commemorate the end of the First World War.
“I’m calling on community groups, service organisations, museums, councils and schools to get their expressions of interest in to my office for projects between $3000 and $10,000,” said federal Lyons MP Brian Mitchell.
“Projects must be a local, community-based project or activity that links directly with the centenary of the Armistice or commemorates WWI and you can be as creative as you like. Events like public commemorations, new war memorials, new honour boards or plaques, restoration of memorials, publications, educational projects and school initiatives are just some of the possibilities.
“Applications close mid-January 2018 so communities have time to coordinate their ideas and get as many people on board as possible.
“I’ll be pulling together a community panel to go through the applications and make recommendations to the department."
